The importance of self-esteem in early childhood

The importance of self-esteem is very important in early childhood. This is the best time to begin building their self-esteem. There are many activities that enhance self-esteem in early childhood. One activity is story telling. Have either a parent or a teacher make up a story. And some point in the story stop and have the child finish it on their own! This is a great self-esteem builder. They begin to feel that they accomplished something on their own and in which this case they have! The story doesn't have to be a certain way just their way. Another great activity would be making "I Am Special" badges. Pull out all kinds of colored construction paper, stickers ect. Have them decorate in any way that they wish. They do feel special after completing this. Anything that a child creates themselves and an adult gives positive feedback, automatically builds positive self-esteem.
