Why are there millions of illegal aliens currently employed in the United States? Americans are lazy. Why do the dirty, under-paid jobs when you can get someone else to white-wash the fence for you? Tom Sawyer learned this lesson years ago.
Advertising teaches us to have it our way. Psychologists indoctrinate our young minds with the importance of self esteem.
Technology instructs our subconscious that we can accomplish more while doing less. And politicians make it easy to receive government money simply because we're "underprivileged," a "minority," or "down and out." Couple laziness with an overdeveloped sense of self-worth and you have the majority of Americans today.
They demand a higher minimum wage so they can feed a family of four by flipping flapjacks. Pleasure is something to live for. School is something to drop. Work is what you do when the bank heist fails.
Search "work" on the Internet and your browser will fill with pages of get-rich-quick schemes. Music tells us to become a rock star. Movies tell us to become movie stars. Television tells us to become sport stars. But no one tell us to become graduates, or bread winners, or hard workers.
Welcome to the land of opportunity! We'll pay you millions to play sports. We'll pay you fifteen dollars an hour to give change and then send a monthly check from the government.
