I don't agree in totally abolishing S.A.T.'s for college admissions. These tests are used by colleges to maintain their level of educational standards. However, these test should not be the sole measuring stick used for admitting or refusing admission of a student. These tests should be used in guiding the institution on what course of study a student would be better off. Thus, if a student shows strength in areas of studies that the institution is not offering, there is no point in accepting him or her and let him or her take a course of study he or she will find it very hard to accomplish. Unless the student persists on enrolling in the institution, and taking a course he or she is interested, although not her or his strength, the student should be given a chance to enroll on a probationary status provided he or she will be able to cope with the standards set by the institution. These, however, should be explained thoroughly to the student. So, In my opinion, rather than these tests used as admission tests, they should be used as guiding test to what students should take in college. There should be no passing or failing grades on these tests, but rather evaluation systems to guide both the student and the institution to what field of studies the student should pursue.
