Poetry: Politics

Life in Iowa Now
Just Trying to Survive the Primaries

They call every night,
At both dinner and bedtime,
Begging for our votes.

Will you give money
Will you caucus for our guy?
Dammit, leave me be

Tonight, Hillary's -
"Do you have any questions?"
First mistake: Said "Yes."

He berated me,
And questioned my knowledge.
It got heated fast.

I throw a lifesaver:
I say, "I am pro-choice too."
He starts to stammer.

Then he dumbfounds me:
"Hillary is not pro-choice."
Sales? Not his day job.
