Pick the best doctor

did not care about what he had done. Clearly, the man is deranged. The partner of the incompetent nephrologist said that we were not the first family to complain about his partner. He told me that he had only seen my mother twice in the hospital and if his partner had taken out the catheter, she would not have had any problems. He then apologized for what his partner had done and what had happen to her. I wish I would have known this seven years ago before employing the doctor. If so, maybe my mother would be alive today.

Another thing to watch for is bedside manner. Bad bedside manner is a big indication of how you will be treated once a patient. After transferring my mother to a university hospital, I remember waiting to meet with a surgeon regarding the gangrene on my mother's hands and feet. An assigned vascular surgeon called a meeting to discuss my mother's condition. After traveling over two and half hours on public transportation to attend a conference with a surgeon, the surgeon never came. Then the surgeon reschedules a second meeting where she was forty-five minutes late. All, the other doctors at the new hospital were well mannered so this behavior was not the norm. The other doctors tried to apologize for her behavior.

Finally, after forty-five minutes she graced us with her presence. There was no apology for her tardiness just arrogance and rudeness. She walked into the room unprepared not knowing my name or the name of her patient. Then she asked rudely who you are. Before beginning the meeting, I asked if I could record the conference. All, the resident doctors were on broad until the vascular surgeon franticly rejecting the request. Her arrogance leads her to inform me that until spoken to I should not speak. Then proceeded to tell me in an icy manner she wanted to amputate half my mother's body (hips and legs) against my mother's wishes. Thank God, I had Power of Attorney over my mother's medical care.

I reported this to the attending doctor. He advised me that she was the best in her field. I told him that I did not care how great she is her bedside manner stinks. In her arrogance, she did not allow me to speak. In addition, if she would treat me like this what would she do to my mother while she is under the knife with her? Removing her from my mother's care, I asked for a second opinion. The new surgeon said that the previous doctor was not correct. That cutting off my mother's hips and legs would instantly kill her for she was too weak.
