The benefits of constructive feedback

There are a lot of wonderful benefits to constructive feedback. The main one is that it can make you a better person by improving on any flaws. Also, if the feedback is related to learning a new skill, it can actually help shorten the learning curve. Here are some more benefits to receiving constructive feedback:

* Ability to correct any mistakes you make before you either make the same mistake again, or make your current error worse.

* Help you learn a new skill as quickly as possible. An example of this is when learning a skill such as martial arts. If the instructor didn't offer constructive feedback on how they are executing their technique, improvement would come a lot slower.

* Improve on your current skill set. For example, a writer could always benefit from having people read their work in order to give them feedback.

However, not just anyone can give constructive feedback. The person who does it needs to be an expert in some way in order for the feedback to be meaningful and helpful. If you are in a situation where you need to give constructive feedback, make sure the comments you make are actually helpful. There is sometimes a fine line between giving feedback that is helpful and feedback that is hurtful.

In other words, constructive feedback presents you with the perfect opportunity to grow and learn from your mistakes. But, one of the biggest things that can harm your chances of getting constructive feedback is to become defensive or not listen to the person when they are giving you the feedback.

It is important to note that listening is not the same as applying all of the information. In some case, the feedback may be subjective. For example, if you ask someone if they like your poem and they say they don't and explain to you why they don't, you have the right as an artist to ignore the feedback if you don't agree with it. However, it is a good idea to consider all of their points and make sure. It may be that some of the feedback they are giving you is valid and you feel moved to change the poem.

So remember, the main benefit of constructive feedback is to help you improve yourself, learn more quickly, or improve yourself.

Here are some tips that will help you handle this kind of feedback without getting upset.

- Really listen to what they are saying without getting defensive.

- Once you listen, take notes. If you are really serious about bettering yourself you will need to remember what they say.

- Learn the difference between criticism and comments that can really help you. Some things that people say may be a matter of opinion, not fact.
