I do not believe in age, so I am saying that women AND men could have any hairstyle they choose. Why is it that every time a topic about any aspect in life comes up, people somehow equate the topic with age. How about wearing a hairstyle that you like and not thinking of age? I do not appreciate people telling me to have a hairstyle that makes me look "younger" or "older", only to take a risk and end up disliking the haircut.
The only thing you should think about when getting a haircut is your face shape. That's it. Plenty of "older" women have long, flowing, gorgeous hair, and should not do a thing to change it because it is so lovely. Then, some "young" woman has a short, cropped hairdo, and it really frames their face, and you have never seen anything so beautiful. Certain hairstyles come with different amounts of styling requirements; no question about it. I don't want to hear that hair changes as you get older. Untrue. If you don't take care of hair, it becomes unmanageable. You must take care of it to have great hair. People use age as an excuse all the time, and generalizing people when they do not belong in a group is simply wrong. It has nothing to do with getting older. If someone wants to spend alot of time on their hair, so be it. It is time for us all to start thinking of people as people, not ages; as oval-faced or round-face, as dark-haired or light-haired, not as "young/immature" and "old/experienced". Jerry Seinfeld said it best when he spoke of girlfriend Shoshanna Lonstein: "She is a person, not an age." It is time society begin to adopt this.
