Don't Ignore Me
I am the one always forgotten, though I speak on the world's behalf.
I am the only one who will fight for you, tell your story long after you are gone.
You hate the sound of my voice, yet I sing you to sleep at night.
I comfort your every fear, let not pain deter your sight.
I pray for you as you curse me; the tears I cry are for you.
I open my eyes to forget you, but your story is my song.
How dare you attempt to ignore me, dethroned Princess that I am?
How dare you dash my dreams to pieces, shatter my most sacred plans?
Don't ignore me! Don't forget me, for I am here to stay.
I will stalk you; I will haunt you; with my eyes, I bless the day.
No attempt to colonize me has succeeded yet.
For eternity, for all that you have stripped from me, you will be in debt.
Don't ignore me! Don't forget me! I am living this life for me!
My eyes see past these shackles into my soul whose depth puts shame to the sea.
I have feelings that are put on edge when I see you overcome with pain.
I take your beatings like bitter medicine, wash my wounds in acid rain.
I grow stronger as you insult me; I've found my purpose despite your words.
My tears bathe me in subtle sweetness as my dreams run on in herds.
Don't ignore me! Don't forget me, though I can live without you here.
I find strength in each day, while you feel life must be filled with fear.
