made for various eventualities and thought was given to a large number of "what if" scenarios that previously were dismissed as not important. Complacency was no longer the rule. A friend recently posted a note to her circle of friends that she'd sprained her back. Movement of any sort was impossible. And as the mom of two under five years, she had some situations on her hands. Her status reports were about intense pain, inability to move, and increased pain after a visit to the chiropractor.
Dealing with the global or the personal, attitude makes all the difference in the outcome. The sage advice given to the friend was to have her husband do absolutely everything for her. This was definitely the time to let him spoil her. As to the kids and the pain, she could still have quality time with them. When the pain got really bad and the next physical therapy or chiropractor visit wasn't scheduled for a couple of days or so, she should resort to home massage. That consisted of lying flat on her stomach (preferably on the sofa while watching television) and then having the two youngsters use Mom's back as a tom-tom. Result: The kids get to play with Mommy as well as practice their drumming technique; Mom gets a lot of love and attention, some good laughs, and a great back massage.
It's all in how you take it. Life's too short for worry, anger, fear, and pain. In each of the foregoing examples, we can see that the positive attitude led to some memorable, quality times - and some laughs!
