The Senator should not have to resign for doing what he did and getting into trouble from it. The senator should resign for one reason and that is he Lied.

If any average citizen goes to court or even gets a citation and tells an intentional lie the citizen would have to face consequences for his actions. The same is true with politicians. Had this not come out into the publics eye the senator more than likely would never have changed his story from the guilty plea.

To change his story after he was found out by the public proves he told a lie. He either lied when he originally plead guilty or he lied after he was found out. Either way he is not a person who can be trusted with the truth and this is why he should resign.

A courtroom is supposed to be a place of truth. In the case of more than one politician this is not the case. We elect these officials to conduct business by us and for us. There sexual indiscretions be it homosexuality in an airport, or sex with a prostitute, or an unfaithful marriage are really none of our business; but, when someone asks the question the politician should be able to tell the truth.

I know, in everyday life there are more people who exaggerate the truth than not. The difference is though that we have not put our trust and faith in everyone like we have the politician. They must have a lifestyle that is acceptable enough to them in order to tell the truth about it.

It would have been a little different if he wasn't an attorney, making new laws, and coming up with a statement to the effect of , I should have sought legal counsel on this matter before I entered the guilty plea. Hello! What kind of an attorney was he? I mean any attorney knows you do not enter a guilty plea if you are not guilty unless there is something else you are trying to hide or hide from.

This situation has proved detrimental to the senator and I am sorry for that. The sad situation is that he brought it on himself and then tried to claim ignorance to the whole situation. That is reason enough not to have him in a trusted political situation representing the values of American peoples.
