Senator Craig should not have resigned. Instead, he should have started his very long sashay out of his thickly paneled and tastefully decorated closet.

The man should have had the cajones to admit that he's gay, because there's nothing wrong with that. What has occurred, instead, is gayness has suffered another unbecoming blow. I'm getting ahead of myself: Senator Craig should have been a man. He should have admitted he is gay. What's the rub? Sorry.

Admittedly, I do not know exactly what went down in that public restroom (clearly something undignified and inappropriate for a public place may have happened.) But, from what I hear on the news, there was no overt solicitation. The Senator's behavior has not been clearly laid out in print. As far as aI can tell, a gay guy tried to meet a man. Sounds like he should have gone to the bar. That doesn't mean he needs to quit his job. of course, that is unless he's scared. Afraid. Timid. Weak. Maybe it's good that he resigned.

A men's room is not a smart place to seek out men. The odds are against you, Senator Craig. Most men are straight! Was this a gay restroom? What a dumbass! Maybe it's good that he resigned.

Senator Craig had a golden opportunity in the palm of his hand and I do not understand why he let it slip through his manicured fingers. (His shame beat him.) Senator Craig could have used his Senatorial position to build acceptance for gays, but instead he went into a denial tirade. Now, the rest of the country is stuck giving lip service to gay rights. What a waste.
