I have been looking for a job for almost 4 months. No luck at all with the major websites, (I did a Google search for the top sites and signed up with all ten of them), but I have gotten a couple of interviews from Craig's List. Also, I have had some success going to different government sites. Pick a city you want to work in and visit their "city of" site. I've been invited to take a couple of tests for city jobs, but not good enough I guess.
Or check out the Federal and state government sites. Had an interview with Soc. Sec. At least with those leads I got tests or interviews; I had no luck at all with Monster, Career builder, etc. I think those jobs are already taken before they list them. Unless you're looking for customer service, lots of those available.
Most jobs so seem to involve either sales or customer service where I live because it's a big tourist place, not much available for someone looking for a real job. Can't move either. Job banks don't let you get specific enough with filters either. There should be a way to search for "jobs not involving any sales".
I wish there was a job website for people who really don't want anything to do with sales, customer service, or healthcare. Don't like customers, or selling to those who don't want to buy, or sick people. Or caring for old people, or kids either. And especially not working with the retarded or handicapped. I just want to sit at a desk and run reports on my pc or do research or write. Where are the desk jobs?
