There is a debate going on involving many of the world's top scientists. Both sides agree that global warming is happening, but the actual debate seems to be as to the cause of it. One side declares that it is man's mismanagement and irresponsible practices, which have led to the global warming threat that the world now faces. On the other side, the scientists claim that it is not due to man's influence on the planet, but rather, it is a naturally occurring phenomenon, which happens on a fairly regular schedule. So just which side is right and how can we as nonprofessionals know the truth.
I am afraid that logic and common sense does not always prevail in these types of issues. On too many occasions, scientists often have an agenda and in order to validate it they will often misread data in order to support their cause. It is no different in this case where there are certain agencies and groups, which could possibly benefit if people were to believe that global warming is because of the influence of man. The United Nations more specifically, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, itself is the largest backer of the theory of man influenced global warming due to greenhouse gasses. However, they no longer put it forward as a theory, but present it in such a way as to make it appear to the public that it is fact, and unless something is done the whole world will perish. They of course have many willing outlets in which to put forth these claims such as, politicians, (Al Gore), and Hollywood types.
Why would the United Nations want us to believe that man is the cause of global warming? Well, the intent of the United Nation is to gain more control over the nations of the world and by inheritance, the people as well. There is a treaty outstanding on the floor of the United Nations, and America is one of the countries, which is being constantly criticized for not signing on to it. That treaty is the "Kyoto Treaty." Basically, this treaty would limit the amount of green house gasses that a country would be allowed to emit. The problem is that it only applies to industrialized nations. This would include the United State, Britain, Germany, and other such nations. Another problem is that not all nations would sign on to this treaty, nor could we trust that they would abide by it if they did.
The United Nations as also been bring forth the idea of a carbon dioxide tax, which they believe would help the problem of global warming. This is a very transparent maneuver in which the United Nations is trying to impose a global tax on the world, thereby creating a revenue stream independent of the dues which and contributions each nation pays to the U.N. It is also a tax on breathing, you see CO2, or carbon dioxide is what humans exhale when they breathe. It is also a gas, which is a key ingredient in photosynthesis, which makes it possible for trees and plants to grow. It seems unlikely that we would want to penalize the world for doing that, which is natural, living.
The issue at hand is that global warming is happening. We must realize that pollution is a global problem and we should be doing something more to combat it, for no other reason than the ideal that it is the right thing to do. We are seeing very different weather patterns across the globe and they are having devastating effects. However, global temperature fluctuations are normal. Humanity has only been recording weather conditions for a relatively short time, but all indications are that it is a normal cycle. Nevertheless, if we think that we have a large influence on the climate of the world, then maybe we think a little too highly of ourselves.
