Why the American government should fund stem cell research

The American government should fund stem cell research. The reason that Bush cut the fund to stem cell research and made laws to suspend stem cell research was that genetic engineering went against certain religions. I think it is wrong to stop a research in science because it went against a religion.

Millions of American's have heart diseases or some sort of diabetes. If stem cell research were a success then millions of lives could be saved. Because heart diseases is the number one kill in the US stem cell research should be on the top of the list. Now it is suspended because it involves the use a human embryo.

There are several things wrong with stopping stem cell research because of beliefs. y First not every human embryo becomes a full grown human being. If a person chooses to donate an embryo or an embryo is used from abortion then is it being used for a good cause, otherwise it is wasted.

We aren't sure that certain religious leaders from the past, who started religions like Jesus, will disagree with stem cell research because they aren't alive anymore. Also times have changed, people from the past didn't have the sufficient science knowledge we have right now. Stopping the stem cell research will only slow down science. Plus if government doesn't want to fund stem cell research that is fine if the majority of the Senate is against it, but stopping private research is unnecessary. There are plenty of people who don't believe in religion and want to be cured of certain cardio diseases, making the treatment unavailable for many people is like letting people waiting for a heart attack or stroke and letting them die.

Just one embryo can save dozens of people. Not all embryos become a human life. Not every family has 500 kids, which is the number of embryos a female has. So this belief that stem cell research is flawed.
