So you are ready to move? Here is some useful information from someone who could be a professional mover. The first thing you need to do is to go through all your personal items and throw away anything that is over 10 years old (excluding personal favorites and antiques of course). Next, Start packing the room that requires the least usage i.e. the living room. Empty closets that are not essentials and pack them in boxes; not bags. Use clear PVC Tape to close your boxes. Avoid masking tape especially on those boxes that you won't be opening for a while. Masking tape tends to open easier than regular tape. If you have one to three rooms, estimate that you will require at least five-six boxes per room. If you can't afford to buy boxes than try to get boxes from a liquor store as they are designed to hold much more heavy items and are easier to re-seal. Always leave your kitchen for last because you will need to eat while you are packing. You can however, pack up glasses such as wine glasses and bowls or other items you do not usually use. Wait for the day of the move to finish off any last minute kitchen items. Make sure you hire a reputable mover! Always ask for friends and family to give advise and suggestions before you sign any contracts or give any cash deposits. Always inquire if the deposit is refundable and always read the fine print. Ask for insurance information and make sure the person doing the evaluation will be there throughout the move. Moving is very stressful! Make sure you don't leave anything but a few things until the last minute. Finally, get a good night's rest, this will ensure that if things start going wrong, you will be in good shape to deal with it. Happy Moving!
