In my personal opinion, i do not think these fast food titans are anywhere near extinction, as their sales actually increase yearly. So as of the next decade i think fast food joints such as McDonald's, Burger King and A&W will remain a very wealthy industry, and will continue to dominate the food business.

On the other hand, i can see where this supposition comes from, as people are starting to be more conscious about their health as national obese rates skyrocket. But as i see it, in the next ten years people will not all become health nuts, and there is already too many people addicted to the food and advertising by such companies. Plus if miraculously the world starts to mostly eat healthy foods, Burger King and McDonald's will start to sell more and more healthy foods to conform to the tastes of their consumers.

Another factor that may one day diminish their profits, is vegetarians, as there there is always a growing number of vegetarians in the world. But as McDonald's and Burger King have noticed this, they have also offered vegetarian alternatives.

So in conclusion, as i see it, with the amount of market researchers all these big fast food companies have, it will be very hard for them to ever stop being popular restaurants. Also with the number of locations each of these places get in every city in North America, it will be hard to forget about them. So as a final note, no, I do not think these companies are on their way out.
