From the time I was born, I was a Southern California Beach girl! When summer slowly rolled around, the only thing that I could think about was getting my feet into the warm sand and feeling the ocean water lap at my feet. While I love the mountains, the beach is certainly a place where summer fun can be lifted to it's highest potential.

From the time that I was seven years old, my grandparents would pick me up at the beginning of the summer and we would take their lumbering motor home to "Newport Dunes", a great little campground that had a big, beautiful bay to swim in. My grandfather and I would ride our bicycles to Balboa Island, Newport Beach, Balboa Beach...I never felt as free as I did with that wind in my hair and the ocean breeze filling my lungs.

I think that the beach is a summer paradise, while the mountains are a beautiful place to visit in the spring, fall or even winter. I live in a little beach town in California, and I can honestly say that in January or February, I would much rather take a drive up in to the mountains, perhaps see a little snow, than sit here in the spring rains.

The beach is definitely the BEST summer vacation spot!
