How can people spend so much time watching TV

by Clydene Rae

Created on: August 31, 2007

I feel there are many reasons for people to watch TV. Information, who was not glued to the television during the tragedy of 9/11. There is amusement, a way to pass time, or just an escape from the daily grind of life.

And, there are many people who watch TV, sales of the newer; better, bigger televisions are a tribute to that fact. You can watch TV on Plasma, HD, and Attached to the wall, the ceiling, or in a cabinet that rises up. (I think those are for those

People say they only watch for the news. Some just confess that they watch TV all day long. Daily, you have soap operas, Dr. Phil, Oprah, Rachel Ray, so you can diagnose yourself, find yourself, and then cook for yourself. Nightly you have news, drama; there are people on TV who are desperate, lost, or catching criminals. There are comedies of all kinds of people in different areas of the world trying to love, live, and marry. And, if that isn't enough there is all the reality you can handle. From racing, singing, dancing, living and working with people you would never meet to live with and survive with.

Parents let children watch TV, to be able to do chores around the house, or talk on the phone. And, yes sometimes as a babysitter. Who doesn't know the theme song to "Spongebob Squarepants"?
"Who lives in a Pineapple under the sea..."?

Advertisers hope that people will watch too much TV; they pour a large amount of their advertising dollars based on that assumption. There are stores, and websites devoted to "As seen on TV". Infomercials, Commercials, Call in the next 10 minutes and we will double the offer. Just pay shipping and handling.

There are game shows, reality shows, comedies, disasters, police chases, drama, and not just "reality, but actuality",

Why do people watch so much TV? To talk about their favorites. Who killed, J.R., Mr. Smithers, and If "It doesn't fit, you must acquit." You can find all of the answers by watching TV.

And if there is too much to watch at one sitting, there is TiVo, DVD-R, VCR's and DVR, through cable and satellite TV.

So, stop asking yourself "Do I watch too much television? And just do what makes you informed, interested, or just laugh out loud. Any one for popcorn?
