In Eden's Garden
In Eden's luscious garden green,
where fruit and flow'rs grew wild and free,
God's holy presence could be seen
beginning mankind's destiny.
Though all was good, and life was fair,
and all things lived just as they would,
our parents could not progress there
to be like Father as they should.
On Eden's soil the tempter trod,
he sought to kill the hopes of man -
they took the fruit forbade of God,
fulfilling God's eternal plan.
Man's hopes relied on agency,
and mercy through God's son employ,
so Adam fell that men might be,
and men are that they might have joy.
They were cast out, the man and wife,
To till the ground with sweat and pain,
And mortal now would be their life,
And to the Dust return again.
Behold! A Savior God has sent
To save all men from death and strife,
And those who would in faith repent
Would with Him share eternal life.
