Things to do in spring in Boston

Whether you are planning to visit Boston on vacation or you have lived there all your life you will need some interesting things to do for free in the city. This is a list of things that you can do in Boston for free during the summertime.

Fanueil Hall Marketplace Laser Light Show

During the summer months the Fanueil Hall Marketplace puts on a laser light show that shows the story of one of the city's oldest locations. This show is put on every summer night through Labor Day. The show includes lasers, lights and music that dance across the entire marketplace. Between the historic Fanueil Hall Building and Quincy Market at the west end of the market is the best place to watch the show. You can also tour the historic area around the market while you are there.

Enjoy the Frog Pond

In the summer months the Frog Pond, located on Boston Common, is filled with water for wading. You can enjoy the water or just enjoy watching other people in the water on a nice day. This activity would be a great way to entertain children, maybe you can even join your kids in the water. In addition, until August 11th there will be arts and crafts by the pond every Saturday for children.

Visit Castle Island and Pleasure Bay

Castle Island is a nice place away from the city with some nice, sandy beaches. You can just hang out, go for a walk, or even visit Fort Independence, which is located on this peninsula. You can also swim along Pleasure Bay. This activity would be great for anyone with children or with animals. Fort Independence guided tours are also available for free.

Free Movies on the Hatch Shell

Every Friday Night the city puts on free movies at the site of Boston's famous July 4th celebration, the Hatch Shell. This years movies include "Shrek 2," "Over the Hedge," "Harry Potter" and "Back to the Future." Beats going out to the movies on a nice night.

Arts on the Common

For the sixth year Boston will host a farmers' and artists' market on the community arcade, which is located adjacent to Cambridge Street and City Hall Plaza. Every Monday and Wednesday from 11 am to 3pm this area will come alive with local artists, performers and people selling their produce. This is a great chance to get some fresh produce, and watch performers and artists at work.
