Hypoglycemia is not only limited to diabetics. I know this from personal experience with my 3 year old daughter. It is sad to say that we have no idea what the cause of her blood sugar crashes is. We have been to every specialist known to man kind and still no answer.
Hypoglycemia is the result of blood sugar spiking entirely to high then crashing to an extremely low level resulting in incoherence, low body temp, and even unconciousness. Normal levels range from 75 to 120, depending on the persons activities and when they last had a meal.
My daughter had a normal day, went to bed and didnt wake up. We found her the next morning in a coma. The cause was her blood sugar had plummited to a near death 18. She was immediately revived with a glucose injection. She was then tested for every possible cause, and all the tests ran came back normal. There is nothing worse than nearly losing a child and not knowing the reason.
So to answer the original question, recognition is simple, treating on the other hand isn;t if you do not know the cause in the first place.
If by chance anyone reading this has experienced the same thing please contact me, my email address is erikaljones23@cox.net. I would appreciate any information at all.
