The scenes in New Orleans of homeless people dying in the streets is just a foreshadow of what will happen when the Baby -Boomers begin to retire. It is all-ready beginning to happen, with more and more of the mentally ill and needy being thrown into the streets. We are about to be hit with a flood of dependant people that our society is neither willing nor wants to care for.

If we think that our broken Social Security system is going to take care of the elderly, we are in for a shock. In many cases there are elderly living on pet food because they can't afford enough to eat. The children of the elderly are not going to be willing to care for their aging parents when they can barely make ends meet themselves. I doubt, further-more; if this self-centered generation is going to value the health and well- being of their parents over their pocket-books. Lurking on the Horizon is, Euthanasia, as seen with the Terry Shiavo case. It will just be easier for society to give the old folks a shot, or with-hold food and water, because mom and dad would want it that way. Who will pay for the funerals is another question. As a society, we have demonstrated, that we do not value the unborn, needy or sick, so why should the elderly be any different? We are probably about to embark on a great American Holocaust.
