Understanding democracy

-Aristocracy or Democracy?~

In Plato's "The Republic" he list's the forms of Government from best to worst. At the top was an Aristocracy, and the bottom Democracy. The fault with Democracy was internal competition. Though this spawned innovation, that aspect of its usefulness has long since expired. The Grand Irony? We are actually more an Aristocracy than Democracy! There are a few KEY differences that work in favor of the ruling elite. The biggest difference: in Plato's Aristocracy only Philosophers are equipped to properly lead. Additionally, in a true Aristocracy everyone knows who the ruling elite are, and they are held responsible for the even distribution of wealth.

The functional loopholes in our system are confounding to consider. We live in supposed Democracy that operates as an Aristocracy. That gives everyone the illusion of control, while the ruling class remain free to squander their wealth in any way they please. There is a reason why the wealthiest 10% own 80% of all wealth. Something we all know, yet have neglected to protest is this single, cruel fact... The more money you have, the less you have to spend, and the easier it is to multiply your finances. If you're poor you pay higher interest rates, more late fees, and are forced to rent instead of buy (so you never attain assets). The system is designed to create insatiably materialistic slaves to the economic machine.

The solution is simple. Instead of a Democracy that functions as an Aristocracy, we flip it for an Aristocracy that functions as a Democracy. You're thinking, "Yeah well, easier said than done." Maybe not All that is necessary for this shift to occur is the unification of enough people (not even necessarily voters). In the land where money talks and bullshit walks, it's safe to say politicians do a lot of walking. We like to hold them responsible, but in actuality they're nothing but glorified puppets pulled by monetary strings. A government is dependant upon the operation of the economy. The question then, is who has the most control over the economy? The answer is..... NOT THE GOVERNMENT. There is an entity called a Multi National Corporation (or MNC). Just as the name connotes, these institutions have a hand in the cookie jars of multiple economies. They affect all aspects of free trade; imports, exports, resources, labor etc. etc... If any of the more powerful MNCs dislike any aspect of legislation, they either bribe (AKA lobbying), or threaten to adversely affect the economy.
