Travel diaries: Las Vegas

Place: Las Vegas, Nevada. USA
Scale of 1-10 (10 being great): 10

Los Angeles. Forget about it. New York. Don't even think about it. Paris. Pass on it. If you were stuck in the same city you grew up in your entire life and you had the chance of visiting just one place, you MUST go to Las Vegas.

Sin City, as it is referred to, is situated in the Nevada desert. It is four hours north-east of Los Angeles. While there are gambling, beautiful people, and wonderful entertainment, the biggest reason to visit this place is mainly because there is NO OTHER CITY in the world like it. This city gives you multiple destinations in one. See, every hotel is themed after a place or an event. You have the Paris Hotel, which is built to resemble a hot air balloon, along with the Eiffel Tower in front of it. Then there is the Luxor, with the architecture of a pyramid and a massive Sphinx. Caesar's Palace is a popular hotel which showcases the Italian flare. There are so many more, like New York, New York, Bellagio, Monte Carlo, Venetian, Circus Circus, Treasure Island, the Mirage, etc. With about 40 hotels on the strip itself, you will never be running out of things to see. Each hotel also has its own shopping mall area, leisure venue, gambling hall and club. I have been to Las Vegas seven times and I still haven't seen all the hotels yet!

Now, you have the entertainment. Not just the gambling, though that can keep someone's interest for hours. No matter who you are or what you like, there is a show for everyone in Vegas. Sin City has female and male strippers, concerts, magic shows, variety shows, sports venues (boxing, professional wrestling, ultimate fighting, martial arts), bird shows, pirate shows, circus shows and much much more. On the strip, you will find that some of these shows are free. More than not, you will have to put out a pretty penny, but it will be worth it. Each show is guaranteed to entertain.

Each club is great in its own respect. I have only been to Tao in the Venetian-which was slammin'-but I have friends who have been to other clubs and they rave about them. Most clubs are open until 3 or 4a. The cover can be between $20 and $35 US (of course, this depends on the time of year...it can be a lot more around the holidays...and day of the week you go).

For those of you who love trying a variety of foods, Vegas may be the ideal place. With every hotel hosting a buffet and multiple restaurants, you are able to
