Water gathers in pools on the sidewalk below
Just long enough to say Hello and then the morning sun comes
To drain it all away into another day of blood, of sweat, of tears
Just how many beers will it take to take the heat out of the lightning?
I like sometimes to crawl onto the counter-top and sit up high
And smoke my cigarette
Dangle my legs past the cupboard doors and turn on all the lights
It was hot today so I walk to the bathroom mirror and strike a cool pose
The glass doorknob keeps falling off and someday I'll be trapped inside
So it's raining and I crack a smile thinking I must be crazy with flashes in my eyes
Realizing it is only the heat lightning out the window and not my mind.

There is none to comfort me
Except for the presence of the Moon.
