I awoke with such trepidation.
There was something I wanted to do.
Something to make me believe in myself,
something I felt I just had to prove.
Physically I knew I could do
all of the work it would take,

and then talked some sense into me.
You encouraged me in every way
and dried my tears so I could see.
I gathered up all of my courage
and then headed out on my way,
to do a task so badly needed,
it was my contribution for the day.
I got there and joined right in
to preserve a piece of history.
The feeling of accomplishment
shown on my face for all to see
I realized something that day.
That the old saying is indeed true;
"when you give of yourself freely,
the one always rewarded is you."
