There's a lot of things that Tip Harris could be called: the main purveyor of a genre that is currently oversaturated in the mainstream, a decent but not great film actor, and yet Harris never receives the accolades that he very well deserves. In one sense, T.I. is as mainstream as they come as he plays with producers who have lent their talents to huge hit songs, in another, he is a fantastic street poet telling of his dark past and the man he has become. T.I. also has an incredible array of words and a fantastic flow to display them, and unlike other fellow Southern rappers (i.e. Lil' Wayne), he also has an ear for avoiding saying dumb rhymes that ruin songs.
Admittedly, T.I. isn't to that top level just yet. There's many fine names in both the underground and mainstream who deliver more profound lyrics. However, with 2006's King and 2007's T.I. Vs. T.I.P., T.I. may just on the way to making his own indelible mark in rap history.
