My name is Gary and I'm a long suffering Vikings fan. One of the most discouraging things about being a Vikes fan is the image of supporting a loser. None the less through thick and thin (mostly thin) we soldier on. The Vikings have been media dart boards over the last few years, what with various player arrests and the infamous "love boat" incident as fuel for sports writers negativity, but I remain a fan of the Vikings. Yeah, they have not won a Super Bowl, failing every time they've gotten there, but hope springs eternal amongst Viking supporters. The politicians in Minnesota and in Minneapolis do not seem to appreciate what a gem they have by having an NFL team in the state and in their city. Recently they put the team's need for a new stadium on the back burner while they OK'd funding for both the Gophers and the Twins new ball parks. With the disaster of the bridge collapse, this will effectively set back plans even further as funding and tax dollars will be needed to rebuild and the Vikings requests for stadium money will be ignored. I'm really getting worried that my support as a Vikings fan may have to switch to another city as I think it's quite likely the The Wilfs will consider seriously the idea of moving the team. The Los Angeles Vikings? I hate the sounds of that! Are my days as a Minnesota Viking fan numbered or is this just another problem to worry through as a true Purple bleeder? SKOL!
