The effects of beer consumption on your health

Beer is good. The Sumerians invented beer to preserve the barley harvest. It was far healthier to drink alcoholic beer than the questionable water supply in ancient times, as the alcohol was a preservative that prevented the growth of harmful molds and bacteria. So, in ancient times, consumption of beer was far healthier than drinking river water. In effect, drinking beer prevented diseases like cholera.

Before the days of refrigeration it was impossible to keep sugar or starch containing liquids from fermenting to an alcoholic beverage. Grape juice turns to wine from the action of yeast in the air. Alcoholic beverages are a direct consequence of attempting to preserve the harvest. Modern beer is more of a luxury item. People drink beer for the neurophysiological effects of the alcohol. Most people do not drink beer to aid their digestion. People drink beer to get a buzz. Even one beer is enough to have mind-altering effects and affects your ability to operate a motor vehicle. Twelve beers begins to affect your ability of speech. A case of beer will affect your ability to walk and stand upright. Drunkenness is not healthy.

Drinking too much alcohol causes a lot of health problems. You could fall in a river off a bridge if you get so drunk you can't walk straight. You might trip over your own feet and brain yourself good from the acute effects of beer intoxication. You might get drunk and get in an argument over the game with your buddy. Alcohol poisoning can kill you, but this is unlikely with beer because beer is weak compared to whiskey. In any case. beer can be very unhealthy. This does not change the fact that beer is good.

People will probably continue to drink beer even though it rots their brains and livers. People will continue to smoke even if it gives them lung cancer. People do things that are damaging to their health. A few beers now and then is probably not going to hurt you, but if you are concerned about your health, it would be better to drink water.
