NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK! It's often not what you know, but who you know.....this can be applied to any job field out there.
You will never know where you will find a lead to something big...a person that will help you achieve your goals, or the perfect employment.

From my own personal experience, networking has proved invaluable. Seven years ago, when my fiance and I were using a Realtor to find us a house, I discovered my Realtor was one of the founding members of a local artist's group. I was still working at the time; so I put it in the back of my mind. Several years after that, after the birth of my third child, I decided to try to focus on being an actual artist..while I had the time being home during the day with her.

The first step I took was to contact our Realtor, who directed me to the artist's group. I started going to the monthly meetings, and instantly felt "at home" with everyone. It is now a place where I can converse with others who have the same passions in life. It has also given me the opportunities to show my work at different venues, which I would have never had before.

It is so important to make as many contacts with people in your field as you can- you never know where it may lead!
