NO TIME TO DIE (based on a true story)
The grim faced doctor turned to leave. He had done all he could to help Agnes. She was terminally ill. The doctor did not give her a long time to live.
Agnes browsed her mind for things that she would have to get in order before her
final day came. There was a will to be made out, bills to pay, and funeral arrangements to be made. Her best friend, Sandy, sat beside her bed and cried with her. How Agnes longed to be able to enjoy at least a couple more years of life.
Sandy prayed with Agnes and left. Because her body was in so much pain, Agnes just lay on her bed thinking about her gloomy future. Not long after Sandy left, here was a knock at the door. Agnes hobbled to it, thinking it might be some of her friends or family, but when she opened it, she saw a tiny pink blanket. Inside of it was a baby. Agnes was extremely puzzled. "Who could have left this baby here?" she asked herself. She looked up and down the street, and saw signs of no one.
She picked up the tiny bundle, and brought the baby inside. She opened it up, and
inside was a well fed baby girl with fat, round cheeks. The baby cried as soon as Agnes disturbed her sleep. It was overwhelming. The baby had to be changed, fed, and taken care of immediately. At this point, Agnes realized she didn't have time to die. The baby needed her, and perhaps she needed the baby.
I met Agnes,(that was not her real name)and she told me about the incident. When I met her the little girl, whom we'll call Joanna, was six years old. She was well cared for and loved her mother, although Agnes was a middle-aged woman. According to Agnes, she never found out who the biological mother was, or who placed Joanna on her doorstep. The only thing she could tell anyone is that her self-pity party ceased that day, and God raised her up from her death bed to raise Joanna. The two
were a delightful mother-daughter family. They both seemed most healthy and happy!
