Distributed by Nexon, the same company that represented Maple Story, Lunia is a new MMORPG, which has just been released for download in the west. Although new to our severs, Lunia has been around for some years now, having enjoyed great success in Korea, China and Japan. However, as the game utilizes cell shaded graphics and various other elements, it is un-certain how the gaming community is going to react. However, being a anime fan and having past experience with non-English speaking games, I thought I would try to post a review which is objective in approach.
Essentially, Lunia, or record of the Lunia war, as its full title states, is not your average every day run of the mill MMO game, in fact, it is quite the opposite. The game is being offered free, with additional options for paying users and can be downloaded from the games official website, which will be placed at the bottom of the review. With that said, this game may seem familiar to Nexon's other games such as Maple Story. However, do not be fooled as Lunia is unlike any MMO you have played before.
With the client installed, your account created and the program launched, you are ready to jump into the games virtual world for the first time. Once logged into the sever, you will be prompted to select one of three characters. Essentially, the three characters represent the three most common classes seen in MMO games, those being, the warrior, the mage or caster and the healer or cleric. Following this, you will then be thrust into the game, quickly finding yourself in a small town which is the hub from which your game will begin each time you log on. From this point, you then venture to a nearby portal which shall transport you to the map screen, allowing you to pick the level from which you last played. The introduction of levels in an MMO is an interesting feature, yet can be perceived as restrictive as it removes the free roaming atmosphere most gamers have come to love in MMOs. Furthermore, that also means that at some point your adventure will end. Although new features are added often and there are a variety of activates in which one can take part, post game, the novelty wears off, nonetheless. However, with 5 main levels being comprised of 10 main missions each, countless quests to be undertaken and a level cap of 65, Lunia has enough to keep you going for some time.
The town in which one starts is the main hub for the game and is also the place where characters may meet up, interact, bye, sell
