Great gift ideas for an anniversary

An anniversary is not just a reminder of the length of time that you have been together, it is a celebration of your union and of your future together too. As many of us have hectic lifestyles with jobs and children involved it can seem that quality time with our spouse can go adrift and be pushed back whilst we deal with other issues demanding our attention. When your anniversary comes around it is time to reset the balance and to spend real quality time with the one that you married.

A great way to begin your special day is to enjoy a great breakfast together. It could be that you usually eat breakfast at different times in-between the school run and leaving for work. If this is the case then arrange for your children to stay at your parents, or with a friend, for the previous night and the anniversary night. Wake up knowing that you have that time and space to enjoy one another.

Part of your gift to each other should be non-material. It could be the time which you spend together focusing on each other or it could be a poem, love-song or a love letter describing all of the things which you appreciate about the other. During everyday life there is usually little time for quality spouse appreciation so this is your moment to remind each other about your deepest feelings.

If you do choose another gift which costs money then do not fret if you don't have allot to spend as you can make a small amount of money go far with a little imagination. Whether you have to go to work or not on your anniversary you can still meet for lunch. Your gift could be a wonderful picnic with champagne in the park and a photograph of the event to go on the mantelpiece. This could become a yearly event where by you could create a scrapbook to look back on and enjoy the memories of all of your anniversaries together.

If you do have enough time and money then how about revisiting a place from the past from when you first got together that you both used to enjoy or going on a date like you used to? You could go to the cinema and snuggle up in the back row together like teenagers or visit a funfair or the zoo. What-ever you do be sure to remind yourself of the fun that you can have together.

If you want to give a gift that your spouse can actually use then a piece of jewelry or cuff-links that are especially made for them will usually go down well because they are so personal and have to require thoughtfulness by you as you liaise with the jeweler about the design to be.

This is your chance to shine in your spouses eyes by choosing a gift that reflects their personal taste, thus illustrating how much awareness you have about their personality and likes and dislikes.

You may spend allot of money on a gift or you may spend very little. It doesn't really matter how much you spend as anniversaries are more about the thought that you put into a gift rather than its monetary value.
