The awakening to the aroma that indulges your senses and alerts your mind is pure bliss for us coffee lovers; especially the ones with gardens.
What you may ask does a coffee drinker and a Gardner have in common? Coffee grounds the best kept secret the oldest book in the library, but the truth is you don't have to love coffee to reap the positives that will be injected into your garden. As a Gardner of many years I must admit that what the coffee grounds do for my garden no fertilizer, and or pest control could ever achieve the same reaction. First and up most you will be as green as can be. Hey didn't you want that green thumb your grandmother always joked about? All you need is a free batch of coffee grounds and you are ready to see the marvel. Imagine as a coffee lover sharing your love with your friends out in the yard and inside your home. Ask your nearest coffee shop for some of that special sought out Java that everyone is so perked about. Number one source is Starbucks of coarse they usually have their grounds neatly available packaged and ready to go at no cost. What better way to fertilize absolutely free.
ADDING COFFEE GROUNDS TO YOUR GARDEN STEPS AND SUGGESTIONS:
add as a supplement directly to the surrounding areas of your plants, vegetables, herbs, ect. be sure (very important) to water right after or sprinkle prior to a good rain.
indoor plants will also appreciate the thought of you sharing your morning ritual with them. dilute the coffee grounds with water ( I put only 25%-30% in a gallon of water doing so one to twice a month every two- three months for your indoor bunch. outdoors you can add more frequently in rainier seasons, always check your plants how they react to the feedings you don't want to exasperate your darlings.
pest control: coffee grounds naturally work as pesticide to slugs, snails, gnats, and many other plant eating insects. The positive is your children and your pets are totally safe.
Want a greener healthier lawn, add some coffee grounds into your grass right before watering or turning on your sprinkler system give a chance and be mesmerized by the bright green results of a much more healthier looking lawn.
Want larger veggies add coffee grounds to your fertilizing schedule and be amazed at the extra large results.
Coffee grounds have special minerals that gardens love especially the carbon-nitrogen (C N) ratio 20-1 a source not naturally made by your soil. Be sure your plants can have acidity nutrients prior to testing. Some plants are discouraged by the acidity, though personally I haven't found a plant in my garden that doesn't enjoy Starbucks as much as I do; even my cattaleyas love a sprinkle every now and then.
