Wouldn't it be great to know that the best cup of coffee in town came from your house? You can give the local coffee house the boot if you take a little extra time to brew your own. The following tips may send you on your way to a perfect cup of coffee.
It all begins with a clean drip coffee maker. Be sure to thoroughly rinse out all the components after each use. Next, find the best water available. Remember, water should be clear and tasteless. Whatever you end up using try to avoid using city tap water. Water from the sink will often send your coffee into the undrinkable column and find it's way to the bottom of the drain quickly.
The most difficult part to making great coffee is finding a blend that is not too bitter yet is filled with flavor. This area is solely up to the individual as everyone has different tastes as well as likes and dislikes. When you do find your treasured blend you must fresh grind it before each pot is brewed. Skip buying the ground coffee and reach for the bag of beans. The little extra work to grind your coffee each morning before scooping it into the filter is well worth the little time that it really takes. Soon you may find that you actually enjoy this little ritual. If you are a true coffee lover, the aroma from the freshly ground beans will send you deep into coffee nirvana.
If time is a consideration and mornings are much too hectic you could grind the night before without losing too much freshness, but it is the freshness that counts. Don't be afraid of making your coffee a little strong if you are looking for flavor. I have found my taste to be satisfied with 2 scoops for 4 cups.
