Compost is the secret to a good garden and a good berry patch. I have known that for years and I have always had a compost pile sort of. A couple of years ago I got a ComposTumbler and boy what a difference it has made. It is easy, portable and makes great compost. They are niot cheap but to me they are well worth every penny they cost. They come in a 18 bushel size that sells for $409 and a 9 1/2 bushel size that sells for $321 and a 30 gallon size that sells for $203 , Yes a pile is a lot cheaper but this is so much better and easier. Just fill it full of leaves, grass clippings, spent plants or what ever vegetation you may have and in 14 days you have awesome rich black compost. I like mine so much that I got another one and all my neighbors give me there yard clippings and leaves and I give them compost. Whenever you walk by the ComposTumbler give it a spin or two and keep things stirred up. It is the best gardening investment I have ever made.
Another thing that is great about the ComposTumbler is that the liquid that composting gives off is lost in a pile or an open drum. With this device you can catch the liquid and use it as a liquid fertilizer. My garden has bee much better since I started seriously composting. I can't wait to retire and move out in the country where I can have a BIG garden again and use my two ComposTumblers to there fullest potential. You can put just about anything except meat scraps and pet droppings in the Tumbler. Sawdust, Shredded newspaper, rotten fruit, and even rabbit manure. It is great and can be ordered from ComposTumbler, Lancaster, PA.. There website is www.compostumbler.com.
If you are a serious gardener you need one of these.
