Engagements & Proposals

Most romantic proposals

There was once a charming prince, who loved his princess very much. So, he got upon his father's horse, and rode over to the princess's castle to ask the King and Queen for their daughter's hand in marriage. Naturally, the king and queen love the young prince, and gave their concent to his marrying their daughter the princess. But, the king warned the prince that the princess had very particular tastes, and would never settle for any less than the best.

"Have no fear," he replied to the king's challenge. "For it shall be a long while before I will have the funds to properly make her my wife." The king consented, and sent the young prince on his way. It was all ready. The mood, the villagers, and the faire for his proposal dinner at the third annual ball. His princess was there, never suspecting that he was going to offer her the proposition of marriage. Making sure for the last time that the ring was in his pocket, the two hit the dance floor.
As the band played the song that his loving mother had requested (The other queen), he picked a lively yet grand foxtrot to "My Funny Valentine" (funny story was that they didn't have the music, but a couple of folks in the band knew the tune, and fudged it). He took her into his arms, turned her out, then in, then out again, while lowering himself down to one knee. To the princess's surprise, he took out a white gold ring, with the most pure diamond on top, placed it before her fingers, and said,

"Will you marry me?" The princess, as to what was her custom, started to laugh, for she thought that it was a cruel joke that the prince was playing on her. Then, he asked again, with more sincerity, "Will you marry me?" The princess, such was her fashion, replied,

"Are you serious?" The prince, about to cry tears of dispair, sang out at the top of his lungs, "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" The princess, convinced of the prince's sincerity, knelt down, and whispered, "Yes." So, from that time on, it was known that the prince and princess were to be married.
