Alternative cancer treatments

An effective alternative treatment for breast cancer without the usage of 'untargetted' cytostatica is possible. I propose as basis therapy the combination of angiogenese inhibitors with immunostimulantia and additionally the physical method of local hyperthermia using focussing microwave radiation.

Angiogenese inhibitors:
The tumor produces a gradient of angiogenins. These angiogenins (small peptides) are acting on receptors in the blood vessels forcing new blood vessels to grow in the direction of the tumor. The tumor obtains nutrition and starts growing faster and developing metastases. In case the receptors at the blood vessels are blocked, the angiogenese is inhibited, the tumor doesn't obtain nutrition which leads to cancerostase (=tumor stops growing) and suppression of metastases. It might be necessary to donate a combination of angiogenese inhibitors to achieve a high receptor blocking efficiency. Angiogenese inhibitors have been clinical tested a decade ago. They are safe, showing nearly no side effects. Contraindication of angiogenese inhibitors is pregnancy.

Immunostimulantia:
The immunsystem recognizes the tumor cells because their cell surface is modified in comparison to normal somatic cells. Patients often have weak immune status. A donation of immunostimulantia activates the immunsystem to attack and destroy the tumor cells.

The combination of both pharmaca should have a synergetic effect which might lead to tumor necrosis (= shrinking and disappearance of the tumor). Both pharmaca have practically no side effects.

Local hyperthermia using microwave radiation:
Additionally the application of the physical method of local hyperthermia by focussing microwave radiation is recommended. Microwave radiation is safe without any risk. The tumor is in the focus of different sources of microwave radiation around the breast. The region of the tumor is warmed up by several degrees celsius. It is known that such a treatment inactivates and damages specifically the tumor cells. Normal somatic cells are unharmed.

A specific therapy by using targetted cytostatica may follow. Targetted cytostatica are bound by a molecular linker to a specific antibody for surface epitopes (= binding site of antibody) of tumor cells. They are acting only at and in the tumor cells. Targetted cytostatica have no or very little side effects.

Medical history of this approach
Tumor angiogenese has firstly been proposed by Dr. med. Wolfgang Wohlgemuth, assistant of Prof. Dr. med. Ferdinand Sauerbruch (Charite Berlin). Dr. med. Wolfgang Wohlgemuth was a friend of mine. Many evenings we discussed his theory of tumor angiogenese. To this time, the receptor theory was emerging and I proposed to him and later to a journal that an inhibitor my stop tumor growth. This idea has been worked out by the US researcher Folkman. He discovered the molecular basis of tumor angiogenesis and developed several angiogenese inhibitors.
