Like many popular Superhero comics lately Superman came back with a vengeance on screen, only this time around he has yet to put on the blue tights and red cape. Smallville is an original show that interprets the teenage years of Clark Kent's life before he becomes Superman.
In fact if I remember correctly that was pretty much the sales pitch, meet the boy that became the man of steel, or some such rot. The point is that even with the predictable fact that you know the Superman basics such as weakness, powers and history the writers of the show still somehow manage to put their own spin on things.
The biggest one in the story line being that Clark Kent and Lex Luthor forged and maintained a close friendship threw out most of the seasons that exist to date. There is also the fact that they brought in Lana Lang as a teenage love interest and so far has managed to sway the audience into routing for this couple.
Just when fans thought that the Lana and Clark saga would remain the it couple in Smallville the writers bring us in with a new twist. Fans of the comics and the Superman movies rejoiced ( some rather reluctantly ) when the story line brought in Lois Lane as Chloe Sullivan's cousin, there by creating doubt as to who the young Superhero would actually choose.
The latest season brought in a whirl wind with a marriage between Lana and Lex, a faked pregnancy, the justice league, Jimmy Olsen and other surprising tidbits. It was mostly a very angsty season for our Superhero as his love for Lana has yet to die down, making a relationship between Lois and Clark impossible. It is impossible to predict if they ever will get together in the show but most fans know that however it goes down the hit series is going to end with Superman finally putting on his cape.
