A Seaman's Tale
I'm an Old man
drifting without a port
Somewhere I lost my way
in a time that seems so short
I had such great ambition
and my ideals were very high
Where did I lose my bearing
with the succession of each tide?
I guess I was too hopeful
and I never considered the cost...
I need to find my northern star
while upon the waves I'm tossed
The wind and rain threaten me
but I cling to my very soul,
this life that I've been given
and the aspirations of daunted goals
Today the clouds are dark
and I'm weary, cold, and wet
I'm anxious for my harbor
and a time to mend my nets
