Whether or not we are talking about the realm of reality or the realm of fantasy and make believe, we crave heroes and heroic figures. Super heroes are the embodyment of our ideals. Without heroes, super or not, we would live in a world without hope and without the dream that good still exists in mankind.

When a child, or an adult for that matter, sits down with the latest comic book in his hands he looking for adventure and action but hes also looking for the Superhero to save the day, to save humanity from catistrophic ends. These are all real fears that we have. We have seen unfathomable disasters at the hand of diabolicle terrorists and horrific natural disasters with unheard of death tolls. When we look to superheroes, we look for hope that we will be saved, that a superhero will swoop out of the sky and stop the plumeting plane before it can reak havok on the city or rescue flood victims from their roofs.

We are in desperate need of a superhero. We see people every day who put their lives in danger to save people. These men and wemon are not super but they do a job and they put their mortal lives in danger because they believe in the good of mankind and they have the hope that it is worth protecting and dying for and yet distasters happen and planes fall out of the sky. Superman, where are you!
