It may be called 'the city that never sleeps' but if you're traveling to New York City with small children you are definitely going to want a place to rest your weary heads and keep the kids happy and entertained as well. NYC has a wide variety of hotels for every lifestyle and budget, and kid-friendly hotels are just as plentiful.
A favorite with families is the 'Doubletree Guest Suites', conveniently located in Times Square. Kid-friendly rooms, including cribs, strollers and child-proofed rooms available on request make this hotel very popular. The rooms are larger then average and include Sony Playstations. Dining options offer kid-friendly meals, also available for room service. The location is ideal, with McDonalds right next door and a huge three-story Toys R Us just a block away.
Located in the posh Murray Hill section of Midtown is '70 Park Avenue Hotel'. The best thing about this hotel is the 'Kids Rule' special, which includes lessons from a real pastry chef or supervised in-room pajama/pizza parties while Mom and Dad get a two-hour shopping trip in a limousine and a romantic dinner for two! Rooms come complete with 42" flat screen TVs, Nintendo game stations and much more. Not only is this hotel a family favorite, but Fido is welcome too! '70 Park Avenue Hotel' is a pet-friendly hotel as well.
'Four Seasons Hotel' is the tallest hotel in New York City and extremely kid-friendly. Kids receive a welcome pack upon arrival which includes things like a bathrobe and baby shampoo. Cribs, strollers and bottle warmers are available for free usage. You can even have your room childproofed before you arrival. Kids can take advantage of the free coloring books, crayons, toys, books, games and choose from the hotel's DVD library.
'Lowes Regency' is a kid-friendly chain of hotels. Amenities include free childproofing, cribs and family travel packages, which provide free movies, popcorn and food credits.
Other hotels in the city, like 'Le Parker Meridian' don't exactly cater to children but do have a few tricks up their sleeves to keep them happy. 'Embassy Suites', 'Sheraton Manhattan' and 'Westin New York Times Square' all offer free meals for kids under 12 and complimentary cribs, but not much more in terms of entertainment.
