Reflections: Are we ever really in love

Are we ever really in love? A question I believe, we all ask our self in hind sight when a relationship ends.

Some may call it an obsession and others might call it possessiveness. Love is not suppose to make you feel that way, and love from all the research I've done, is not suppose to hurt all the time.

Love is suppose to set you free and make you feel light and happy. Love is wanting to share your life with someone who loves you equally as much. Love is trusting and believing in your partner and protecting them.

The poets, Robert and Elizabeth Barrett-Browning were in love, so much in love that they wanted to share their love with no one else but each other, that is why they never had children.

Lord Byron was a little bit in love with each woman he made love too, but his true love was his cousin. In his eyes, she was the most beautiful woman on Earth.

When my grandfather died, my grandmother had told my sister and I that she would have left my grandfather years ago because of the affair he had had with her sister, but people looked down on divorce back then and women were told that you stay by your husband no matter what. Did she love him? Maybe once a long time ago, but not as much through the years.

So, "are we ever really in love?" Maybe some of us thought we were, maybe some of us were.
