Coping after murder, suicide, accident and death of a loved one

As of June 07 2007 it has been 23 years since my sister was killed. I was pregnant with my twins and she was expecting her first child. My sister was 19 at the time. I was at home when I got the call, at first I didn't believe what I was hearing but then it registered. I called my other sister and we drove to the location. My sister had gone to a friend's house to hang out and her friend left to go the store leaving my sister at her house. While the friend was gone an unknown man broke into the house and confronted my sister, they struggled and he shot her then fled. I will never get the picture out of my mind of seeing my sister on that gurney hooked up and wrapped up to sustain her life. We followed the ambulance to the hospital and waited for any news. The Dr. finally came to tell us that they couldn't save her. I went numb and my Mother was hysterical to the point they had to subdue her. My sister was the baby of the family. My Mother at this point was useless, so I had to make all the arrangements and call the family. The call to my Father was the hardest. We buried my sister and i went home to nurse my guilt. I felt guilty because 2 lives had been lost and I was on the brink of bringing 2 into the world. I went into premature labor partly due to the depression I was in and had the babies. The same day I gave birth I dreamed of my sister and she told me she would always be there to watch the boy's. In learning to cope, I learned to share my sister with all of my children. They all know who she is. I didn't put her away when she died, I learned to keep her alive. This is how I cope.
