JUST SAY "CLICK"!
"Brrring!"
During the dinner hour, your favorite television show or even homework, the phone rings.
"Ugh! Another telemarketing call!" you mutter, as you pick up the receiver.
The caller, who claims to be a court official, explains how you failed to show up for jury duty. He or she accuses you of shirking your civic duty and maligns your patriotic spirit.
As your blood begins to boil, you argue that you never received a summons for jury duty.
The caller offers to recheck official summons files and asks for your legal name, date of birth, Social Security number. He or she informs you that this data is required for cancellation of your outstanding arrest warrant.
DO NOT GIVE OUT THIS INFORMATION!
This is a scam. Once you offer your private data, you will have become another identity theft statistic.
Of course, you should never offer your personal identification information on the telephone, unless you initiated the call personally!
