Poetry: Bad friends

Who's Helping Who?

He walks, he goes to work, she runs!
The night is hers to do as she pleases
She feels old enough to make her own decisions
Of what's right and what's wrong

Who are they to say what she should do?
She can vote, she can get drunk and,
She can damn well do as she pleases and,
Whenever it pleases her to do so.

Her friends' care, they need her,
To pass on their own guilt,
To take away their own misguided decisions in life.
She listens, she absorbs, she takes it back home with her.

There's no love, no life at home, but,
There's plenty of atmosphere, filling each day.
Receiving a hell and having no ideas
From where it came or how!

She's still young, with time in life to learn
That we see and hear what we are meant to, and
That between the shades of black and white, there
Lies a secret shade of greyness.
