Adopting a child from another race-A child's point of view

I'm a 13 year old bi-racial boy who was adopted at birth by two white parents. I also have a 10 year old bi-racial sister and a 7 year old bi-racial brother who were adopted at birth as well. We are all three from different birth families.

I really think its okay for parent to adopt children of another race. It gives the adoptive parents a different point of view.

As my teen years begin I'm seeing more and more problems coming up. Adoptive parents need to understand there are times when children of different races feel uncomfortable at parties when there are no other people of the same color there. Even at Church sometimes it can be uncomfortable because most of the Churches are white or black Churches.

Sometimes I get scared to go up to people or join in a group of different race people because I don't know what their reactions might be.

If you adopt a child from a different race just know that there will be times they might come home from school crying because someone picked on them just because they were different. I really don't know what you can do or say to make them feel better but try to see their point of view.

Also remember that if your adopted child wants to one day meet their birth family give them the chance and support them in that decision.
