The best way I've found to locating an oil leak is to first completely clean the engine, whether it be using a power washer (minding your pressure) or using an engine cleaning solvent. Also, watch spraying your wiring harness and plug wires, It'll save you a lot of headaches later. Once you've got the engine clean then let your engine idle for awhile. Periodically check around your engine looking for leaks. Places to pay attention to are as follows: valve cover gasket, head gasket, oil pan gasket, and any oil lines if applicable. Once you've found your oil leak, if it happens to be your valve cover or oil pan start by checking the tightness of the securing bolts or line fitting depending on where the leak is coming from. It may be just some loose hardware or fittings.
