Single parents: What to do when you can't make ends meet

still being able to earn a wage. I was also able to provide other working parents with peace of mind, knowing they were leaving their little ones in a loving, caring and safe family environment, where their childrens physical, emotional and security needs were met without prejudice or discrimination. Even though I had no doubts as to my ability to offer a first rate service, I was overwhelmed by the positive feedback given to my co-ordinator from parents and the love both my children and I had for all of my "other children". I found my day care days to be very rewarding and it give me a great sense of wellbeing to know I was highly regarded in this field, by parents and the schemes co-ordinators alike. It is one thing for a parent to know they have a reliable babysitter, but to see your child excited to arrive at a care providers home each morning makes it a lot easier to be at ease through the working day. That was my driving force, seeing happy smiling little faces and parents who were able to leave for the day without tears.

Don't for one second discount any idea you have for fear of ridicule or you will be disappointed when another puts it into action and has great success. If you have a brilliant idea but not sure it will take off, run it by some trust worthy friends or family, get their opinion and judge from their reaction to what you say. Best of all ask some career people you know would they be willing to pay for a particular service which will free them up to spend more time doing what they enjoy.

Stay positive and best of luck.
