Romantic getaways

Any trip should be at least somewhat planned in advance if you wish to save money but it is much more romantic to come home and learn you are going somewhere special for the weekend just because your spouse/significant other wants to take you away.

Either way you should take the time to book your room or bed & breakfast before you leave. Shop around online and see who has the best rates for the quality you are requiring. For example if you are fine with sleeping at a Motel 6 they offer a discount of about $5 a night for booking the room online. Using a membership to book a room usually saves you money or gets you points towards a free stay.

Keep in mind this is your romantic getaway so if you check into a room and it isn't what you paid for contact the front desk immediately. If they cannot provide you with what you required and paid for. Request a full refund and checkout so you can go somewhere else. Don't let a lousy hotel ruin your weekend. All too often we put this on the back burner because we cannot afford it or don't have time. Make it worth the time and money you are using.

Consider preparing a picnic basket for your first night away. Going out to dinner usually turns out better after a fresh nights rest, a hot shower, and some special attention to your loved one.

Plan your time spent carefully. If you have Friday-Sunday. Make Saturday your action packed day. Relax on Friday to unwind and remember why you are here with your someone special in the first place. Sunday again relax because tomorrow you have to get up and restart your routine. You should return refreshed and eager to tackle new adventures.

Buy your wine/Champagne at the local liquer store before you go. Carefully wrap and pack it away. You neither want a ticket nor the expence of buying this last minute at some tourist location or fancy resturant. Again Friday you need to unwind and relax. Use that for your indulgence night. It is much better to spend $20 at home than $50 for the same bottle later.

As tempting as the bar/stocked fridge is at a motel. Don't touch it. Take your own snacks & drinks. Those coke machines in the hall are nearly double a convenience store which is already higher than buying at Walmart.

If it is a really long drive maybe you should fix a meal before you leave so you don't have the urge to stop in McDonalds on the way.

Gentleman if you are doing the planning do not forget to buy the roses or rose petals. Most Dollar Stores or Walmart carry these you should pick them up
